Pool Fencing: Finding the Right Type for Your Pool

Pool Fencing

Pool fencing is a crucial part of your pool's safety system. Pool fences are put in place to prevent children and even adults accidentally falling into your pool and getting hurt or drowning. In terms of pool fencing, they also prevent all of the unwanted animals from getting caught in your pool.

Having  pool fencing is actually required by law to protect the humans and animals around your pool. Putting up pool fencing is not a difficult task, as there are many pool fencing materials to choose from. There are four main types of pool fencing to choose from, each with their own benefits and drawbacks in terms of interests, priorities, and budgets.

Glass Pool Fencing

Glass pool fencing is a type of fencing that will keep the view of your pool unobstructed, while maintaining the necessary safety requirements. Glass fencing won't affect your landscaping, and is climb-resistant to discourage any unwanted critters. You can choose between frameless or semi-frameless glass, depending on your preference. While it is elegant and physically appealing, glass fencing can break very easily and is very expensive. It also has a tendency to accumulate mold and dirt. Once the glass pool fencing is attached to your pool deck, it cannot be removed without causing damage.

Wood Pool Fencing

Wood pool fencing is the most traditional option. It provides privacy, and is available in many different sizes, shapes, colours, and designs. Wood pool fencing is durable, and will last a long time. However, wood is opaque and will completely block the view of your pool. Wood pool fencing also takes a while to install, and must be treated and painted at least once a year.

Aluminium Pool Fencing

Aluminium pool fencing is perhaps the most durable and strong of all types of pool fencing. Semi-private and still stylish, aluminium pool fencing is often the most popular choice. There are some drawbacks to aluminium fencing, including its tendency to corrode where attached to the pool deck, requiring frequent cleaning and repair. Aluminium fencing is also easy to climb, and might not be a good idea for a pool where children are nearby.

Mesh Pool Fencing

Mesh pool fencing is by far the easiest to install and take down. It is also climb-resistant, and comes in many different colours, heights, and styles. You can also find mesh fencing that is mildew resistant, as well as rip and fade proof. Mesh pool fencing is available at different price points, but the cheapest ones will need to be replaced more often.

Finding the best type of pool fencing is not as difficult as it may seem. You simply need to decide what your priorities are in terms of aesthetics, durability, and safety.
